My space...

One culture that has impressed me in many ways is the Japanese culture. I visited Japan on a week's vacation. I visited Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Kyoto, and Osaka. One thing that truly stuck out about Japanese culture is their concern for space. Upon exploring Tokyo not one inch of space was wasted. In the bustling city you could see tall skyscraper buildings with tiny buildings etched next to them. It was like looking at a puzzle with space interlocking around each corner. Space was even a concern at local restaurants where you could find a hook or a small compartment under your table to place your coat and purse instead of placing it in the seat next to you. What truly shocked me was when I went dancing at an average club. We actually received keys to personal lockers to keep our coats and shopping bags in. It was definitely an experience. You always seemed to have enough space of your own to keep yourself and your belongings so as to not disturb anyone Else's space.

Me in a nutshell...

As I type the snow mounds outside. Like all other students I hope to see some kind of advisory notice saying classes are cancelled. While I love learning and academia, the thought of sitting in a class room puts me to sleep at times. I'm much more of a hands on kind of chic, perhaps this is why I am a self proclaimed "Foodie". I love all about food especially eating and cooking it. A few days ago I had a minor melodramtic breakdown as I tried to answer a professor's question to me about what my career plans are. I've been in school for sometime now, had many school and major changes to count, so I've kind of just been going through the motions for some time now. I had heard the career plan question many times before but that day was different. I began to think where am I going. I plan to graduate at some point this decade with a degree in Marketing & Advertising. Up until a few days ago I didn't know what in the field I wanted to focus on. Epiphany time: I want to be in the world of FOOD marketing! Some day I hope to open up my own business dealing with food at some capacity. I fantasize about what it might be: a chef, a restaurant manager, a food critic, etc. Aside from my madness about COMIDA, I enjoy writing and reading. I'm also introverted at times but when put into a group setting and stuff has to get done, I'm usually the first to say "ok so this is what I think". So for anyone there looking for a group member for whatever projects we'll have in class, I'm your chic! BUT please do come to roll up your sleeves as well and work it! Hope I get to know many of you throughout the semester.

Ciao,
Candice
